Greenhouse Gas Reporting

North Shore provides greenhouse gas reporting services for various sectors across Western Canada. North Shore works closely with our clients to help them meet their needs regarding greenhouse gas liabilities and manage greenhouse gas emissions portfolios. This ranges from compliance reporting for large emitters, aggregated facilities, corporate inventories and offset projects. This includes the following programs:

  • Alberta Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) (replaced SGER and CCIR)
  • Alberta Specified Gas Reporting Regulation
  • Alberta Emissions Offset System
  • British Columbia Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulation
  • Saskatchewan Output Based Performance Standards
  • Saskatchewan Management and Reduction of Greenhouse Gas
  • Environment Canada Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program

National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) Reporting

Under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act 1999, Environment and Climate Change Canada is authorized to gather data pertaining to pollutants released by industries in Canada.  The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is the federal program that gathers annual pollutant data and the annual requirements for reporting are published in the Canada Gazette, Part 1.

North Shore provides NPRI reporting services for various sectors across Western Canada, ensuring compliance with reporting required substances for facilities that meet reporting thresholds.

Sustainability Reporting

North Shore manages and executes large corporate greenhouse gas and emission reporting programs, such as the:

  • Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
  • Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Stewardship Responsible Canadian Energy (RCE)
  • Environmental, Social, and Corporate governance (ESG) reporting

We also support companies with internal sustainability or corporate reporting programs.

Benzene Management

North Shore works with oil and gas operations to manage benzene emissions from glycol dehydrators and refrigeration systems to meet benzene reduction policies in western Canada, specifically AER Directive 039. North Shore prepares and issues Dehydrator Engineering and Operations Sheets (DEOS) for all dehydrators and refrigeration systems for our clientele and prepares the annual Dehydrator Benzene Inventory List. North Shore also coordinates lab sampling and data gathering on behalf of our clients in order to prepare the DEOS and annual inventory.

North Shore works closely with our clients to ensure their units are being optimized and operated within the Annual Emission Limits of Directive 039. Should a dehydrator or refrigeration system exceed the unit specific benzene emission limit, or a facility exceed the site benzene emission limit, North Shore works with our clients to develop benzene reduction strategies for each site and assists in self-disclosures and Corrective Action Plan (CAPs) to bring our clients into compliance.

Starting in 2019, dehydrators are required to meet D060 methane limits.  Read more here: METHANE & MSAPR SERVICES
