Project Manager – Reclamation/Remediation (SP/CGY)

North Shore is currently seeking a Project Manager for our Reclamation and Remediation Team, based out of our Sherwood Park or Calgary office.

We are seeking an experienced environmental professional with a strong technical foundation and a passion for leading people, projects, and client relationships. The successful candidate will manage a team of environmental professionals, oversee the delivery of remediation and reclamation projects, maintain existing client relationships, and support the continued growth of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Division Manager, lead and develop a team of environmental professionals, coordinate field programs and the execution of field work and reporting
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive project delivery and proactive communication, while supporting management and the business development team in identifying and pursuing new clients and project opportunities
  • Oversee proposal preparation, project scheduling, budget performance, resource requirements, and timely completion of project deliverables
  • Support workforce planning, workload balancing, and staff utilization
  • Develop quality scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules relating to environmental site assessments, remediation, reclamation, soil and groundwater monitoring programs, vegetation monitoring, detailed site assessments (DSAs), and reclamation certificate applications
  • Provide technical oversight of field programs and periodically participate in field activities to support project execution, staff development, quality assurance, safety, and client relationships
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary groups (Technical Resource Group, Data Management Group, Biophysical team, and Vegetation Management team) to successfully execute client projects and programs
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with landowners, client representatives, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders
  • Assist with the preparation and development of best practices, standards, and procedures for our clients to mitigate project risks and support operations
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and safety-focused team environment by implementing company and client safety requirements and periodically visiting project sites to engage with field staff
  • Provide mentorship, support, and training to junior and intermediate staff

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant environmental experience, including field-based work related to remediation, reclamation, environmental site assessment, or environmental monitoring
  • Proven experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables across multiple concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing staff, including workload planning, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and professional development
  • Previous experience in a formal Project Manager role is considered an asset
  • Technical diploma or university degree in environmental science or related discipline
  • Relevant Professional accreditation (or the ability to obtain accreditation) in Alberta, British Columbia, or Saskatchewan
  • Experience with Alberta soil and groundwater remediation guidelines and reclamation criteria
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of the upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in western Canada is considered an asset
  • Willingness to periodically travel and be in the field as dictated by project requirements
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, computer, and problem-solving skills
  • Technical report writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-motivated and have a willingness to succeed within a team environment
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent responsibilities
  • Valid driver’s licence

Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting upstream oil and gas projects in western Canada. Experience in other sectors including utilities, industrial development, mining, transportation, or renewable energy will also be considered. Compensation will be based upon candidate experience.
